Linocut – Butterflies & Poppies (Artist's Proof)

This original linocut print was inspired by the repeat pattern on wallpapers, this step-and-repeat image is actually made up of four repeated tiles. The original design is worked out and the image cut into quarters, before filling in the gaps to complete a full image. The image is cut into the tile, inked and printed. It is then inked again, carefully lined up with the previous print and re-pressed and so on and so on. This one was reprinted four times to create one larger image.
